Walking

As a sexual magick AMG ADA is also a physical discipline. Sexual magick requires physical vitality. Adepts therefore are urged to keep themselves in good physical shape by maintaining healthy habits. Specifically, they should eat well and enjoy light exercise on a regular basis. 

​

Jane Hurley-Cross, one of the pioneers of modern AMG ADA, was a natural health practitioner with a background in Chinese medicine. She placed a great emphasis upon maintaining optimum levels of vitality as a prerequisite for this mode of sexual magick. Her specific recommendation for adepts of AMG ADA was that they should adopt walking as their preferred type of exercise. She warned against vigorous styles of exercise such as jogging or cardio-vascular work-outs. She taught that, for students of any sexual magick, sex ought to be the most vigorous thing they do. To prepare for it they should maintain a regime of more gentle forms of exercise, with long walks being the best.

This advice has been confirmed by practical experience. Walking - long walks three or four times per week - stimulates exactly the right type of vital energies required for the practice of AMG ADA. If possible, the walking should involve various types of terrain - up hill, down hill - and it is best if it is done in a natural setting such as a forest. 

​

This advice might seem unimportant, but it should not be underestimated. As well as giving tone to general health, long walks stir the libido  (while more vigorous forms of exercise tend to waste it.) Walking also facilitates deep sleep and proper dreaming and has a demonstrably beneficial effect upon mental health. Walking is meditative. It should be seen as a regular form of meditation that is an important part of the physical discipline that accompanies AMG ADA sexual magick. Certainly, a sedentary life will undermine the energies needed for this type of magick.

It is strongly recommended that all those involved in AMG ADA develop a routine of going for long walks in natural surrounds. Walk, breathe, meditate. This is the best preparation for the rites of AMG ADA. 

​
