Modern Amg Ada is an adaptation and extension of the ancient pagan practice called ‘tree marriage’, the Arbor Nuptial. The sacred tree of this tradition is the European ash, Fraxinus excelsior, revered as the World Tree, the Axis Mundi. Bride and groom, woman and man, are bound in a magickal handfasting to the sacred tree and use the tree’s axial presence in the cosmos - its link between heaven and earth - to center, stabilize and potentize the sexual energies of their union.

 

Tree marriage is an ancient institution. Its purpose was esoteric and erotic, not social and tribal. It was the marriage of wizards and enchanters. It confers powers. It opens the eye of the mind to visions. 

 

This is a tradition that is outside of Christian morality. It is a path of delight, of excess, revelry, orgia. Adepts pursue the experience of rapture, an existential ecstasy. Rituals of dance and sexual excess, guided and amplified by incantations and an esoteric magick of shadows, stir the basic erotic forces of the universe, within and without.
